What went well?
Something that I felt went well was the calculations for the lengths of the spiral and the construction of the spiral itself. I felt that the calculation for finding the lengths went well because I thoroughly enjoyed figuring out the calculations and then using the answer to the previous equation to find the length of another. The construction went well, in my opinion, because the group that did this with me were very helpful and we were able to quickly get the construction done with one another's help.
What challenges did you come across?
The only challenge we had was when a parent had talked to us and said that the way we were originally going about the construction was wrong. So we tried listening to her and solving it the way the parent was going on about, but we had difficulties with the calculations, so we asked them again. However, they were not able to aid us in the calculations so we just continued with the way we originally planned.
Choose one Habit of Mind that you practiced in this mini project.
One Habit of Mind that I felt was most practiced in this project was significance because of the creation of this project and the steps before. I found doing the calculations of the spiral quite significant because I was able to learn a new formula that was added on to a previously known formula. This helped to expand the knowledge I had in mathematics and to help me in the future when needing to create a three dimensional object. The construction was significant because I had worked with others to make it and we had to come up with a way to construct it since we had found no previous evidence of someone creating one before. This helped me to work better in a group and how to create a product with no previous examples to aid me.
