For this first benchmark I had to finalize all the decisions and prepare what is going to be done. The main thing for this benchmark, however, was simply deciding which toppings I would use for my product. Next, I needed to know which two decorations would represent reflection, which two would represent rotations, and which two would represent translations. After this was clear I next had to make a chart that showed which decorations went with which mathematical motion, as shown above.
This benchmark was one of the most time consuming, but also one of the most enjoyable to do. When doing this benchmark I first had to do research on what material is needed to make a cheesecake and a recipe to follow of from. I then had to follow the recipe and insert it into the oven to cook, however it didn't cook within the designated time. The cheesecake was still undercooked in the middle so I had to leave it in the oven longer, and each time I checked on it it was still undercooked. It wasn't until it was getting late that I decided to put the cheesecake in the freezer to cool and hope for the best. Thankfully the cheesecake cooked properly afterwards and many people enjoyed eating a piece of said cheesecake.
Benchmark #5- Reflection
What went well?
Something that I felt went well was the baking portion when I was creating the cheese cake. I felt that this went well because I had received many positive comments and feedbacks. I was also quite proud of the finished product overall due to the beautiful design that the cake had and that it was edible.
What did not go well?
Something that I felt did not go well was benchmark #3 because of a misunderstanding. This did not go well due to this because I had thought that I had turned in the third benchmark, but due to the change in classroom and mixed up schedule, I was unable to deliver said benchmark. This had me momentarily have a zero in my third benchmark grade and a slight panic to arise until I found out I had it.
What did you learn?
I learned how to use mathematics in everyday life, along with the main mathematics topic spoken about. Another everyday usage of mathematics that I learned about on top of the main one was the measurements and the conversion that is used to figure out how many ounces are in a cup and such.
What would you do differently now that you completed this project?
What I would have done differently on this project would be to try and fix the problem that did not go well. Next time, to avoid such a problem from arising again, I will thoroughly check to make sure that I had turned in the assignment.
Kind Specific Help Feedback?
Some kind, specific, and helpful feedback that I had received was that the next time I give out portions of any edible product be certain that you have napkins or a plate to hand out. Some kind feedback I had received was that the product was very delectable and that they wanted the recipe. Another helpful feedback I received was to bring a cake cutter with the cake and to have everything prepared beforehand, these were the most KSH feedback I had received.
