Designing a Backpack
To do this project we were grouped in five and given an open-ended problem to create a backpack from whatever we wished. In my group of five we first began to write a list of things that we didn't like about an ordinary backpack and expanded from there. It started from a fanny pack to a sweater to the main concept we have now, which is a jacket. From there we added on ideas and different concepts, letting our imaginations go wild; including flares, jet pack, chained material, and a sword on the sleeve to give a few examples. We also had a helmet accompanied with the design to add more interesting features, which we later scraped due to the time limit.
The next step we did after brainstorming was trying to make it slightly more realistic by taking out most of what had been previously stated. We added a taco pouch to make it convenient to carry tacos on the go and with half the hassle. As well as a unique design to make the jacket more fashionable and desirable to a certain age group. (With this design it would be boys around the age of 10-14) We then began to prepare for our presentation of the product by creating a pitch and accompanying it with a skit to add diversity. Below is the recording of our presentation.
